Fundraising remains critical in order to complete this model, and to develop and implement our replication strategy. Our ongoing investment in research and development, including design considerations and establishment of a new public-private collaborative model, will reap benefits in the years and decades to come. We are committed to supporting replication of our model nationwide.
Our goal is to build for adults with autism an environment typically not available to them—a place where they have a sense of community and belonging.

Volunteer With Purpose!

Become part of our community and experience the joy and gratification of enhancing the lives of Sweetwater Spectrum residents. You will be matched to an assignment based on your skills, talents and interests.

Resident Companion:

Enhance the daily life of a resident who shares common interests. A Resident Companion will always work closely with a service care provider. Here are some examples:

  • Jogging
  • Cooking
  • Swimming
  • Art
  • Politics
  • Television and movies
  • Theatre

Time Commitment: A minimum of two hours per week

Farm Support:

Do you like to get your hands dirty? Work with Farmer Luke and residents who share an interest in gardening.
  • Weed plants
  • Harvest produce and herbs
  • Help cook fresh vegetables
  • Assist with resident activity on weekly Farm Night
  • Work the Sweetwater Spectrum Farm Stand on Saturdays
  • Help assemble veggie boxes for sale

Time Commitment: A minimum of 2 hours per week.

Farm Stand Assistant:

One-half day on Tuesday (10am-1pm).

Support a Service Provider:

Assist service providers in the home, on excursions and at a variety of Sweetwater events on and off-campus. Some examples of engaging in daily activities:
  • Cook breakfast
  • Go for a hike
  • Go to the movies
  • Walk on the treadmill

Time Commitment: A minimum of two hours per week.

Teach What You Love:

Do you have a passion or skill you’d like to share with individual residents or groups? We’re open to ideas!
  • Swimming
  • Yoga
  • Art
  • Spanish
  • Cooking

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours a month for a minimum of six weeks.
